Terminated JBT teachers today re-launched an indefinite dharna. Virender Kumar Dahiya, Additional Director, Elementary Education, had assured them that appointment letters would be issued to them by August 15, but since it was not done, they restarted their agitation.

They threatened to intensify their stir if their demands were not met.

A delegation of teachers met Aditya Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner, and apprised him of the assurance from the Additional Director.

Earlier, teachers had staged a dharna for 32 days in Karnal demanding the cancellation of sacking orders. They had lifted it following Additional Director’s assurance.

Rakesh Jangra, state president of the Terminated JBT Teachers Association, said they were feeling cheated as the Additional Director had assured of issuing them joining letters by August 15.

“We were told by the Additional Director that 963 JBT teachers had not joined and the department would adjust us on the vacant posts. After this assurance, we had lifted the dharna and ended the fast,” he said.
