Shama Sikander feels that viewers are ready to explore unconventional content
Actors tend to get comfortable in the same kind of roles that they portray on screen, but actor Shama Sikander is always up for experimentation. Asked what makes her take up roles that are so different from each other and non-mainstream, the actor says,“I get bored of doing the same things, I look forward to projects that make me grow, expand my horizon.”
Shama has been a part of shows such as Seven, Baal Veer and films like Prem Aggan (1998)?and Mann (1999), besides the web series Maaya directed by Vikram Bhatt. But, best remembered for her role in the TV show Yeh Meri Life Hai, Shama says that ever since the show went off air in 2005, she ensured that she took up projects that challenged her as an actor. “The only way I?can give my best in a project is when it engages my mind, and for that, I?prefer out-of-the-box ideas. I’m intelligent and I learn things quickly; so, I need to do projects that give me scope to excitement.”
Shama has portrayed some unconventional roles. “I’ve always tried out ideas, which existed but weren’t explored much before,” says Shama, adding, “If a project is shot well and the people involved have given their 100%, it will be a success.
