The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has approved Mohammed Shami’s central contract after its anti-corruption unit (ACU) exonerated him of corruption charges levelled by his wife Hasin Jahan.

Shami has been given a Grade B contract (worth Rs 3 crore annually), and he’s now free to play in the Indian Premier League.

BCCI had decided to hold back Shami’s contract after his wife made a series of allegations against him, including a charge of possible match-fixing. Shami had denied all the allegations.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) had asked ACU chief Neeraj Kumar to investigate whether the bowler had accepted money from a Pakistani woman, as claimed by his wife.

“Based on the conclusions in the report, CoA is of the view that no further actions/proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter,” the press release said.
