SIDHU ENVISIONS JANG-E-AZAADI MEMORIAL AS STAR TOURIST ATTRACTION OF STATE
DESCRIBES IT AS AN ARCHITECTURAL MARVEL WITH A HUGE POTENTIAL TO BOOST TOURISM

Describing the Jang-e-Azaadi memorial as an architectural marvel, the Local Bodies Minister Punjab Mr.Navjot Singh Sidhu today envisioned this memorial as star tourist attraction in the state.
Taking part in deliberations during his visit to the iconic memorial here today, the Minister, accompanied by Chief Editor ofAjit group of newspapers DrBarjinder Singh Hamdard, said that this memorial which showcases the stellar role of Punjabis in freedom struggle has a huge potential to attract tourism in the state. He said that this memorial was a perfect tribute to the great heroes of Indian freedom struggle who had sacrificed their lives at the altar of their motherland. Mr.Sidhu said that the state government was fully committed to develop this memorial as a star tourist attraction in Punjab.
Mr.Sidhu said that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already sanctioned the final installment of Rs. 15 Crores for the completion of the second phase of this memorial. The Minister said the memorial would be very instrumental in keeping in younger generations abreast with the great history of the country besides inculcating a feeling of patriotism and nationalism in them. He assured fulsome support and cooperation to the Jang-e-Azaadi foundation for completing the second phase of this ambitious project at the earliest.
The Minister also laudedDr.Hamdard for playing a vanguard role in completion of this project. He said that DrHamdard has fully dedicated himself for construction of this memorial, which would ever act as a lighthouse for younger generations.
Earlier, the Minister accompanied by DrHamdard visited the memorial and paid homage to great Martyrs of the country. Mr. Sidhu and Dr. Hamdard also unveiled a book written by eminent writer Mr. KewalDhaliwal.
