Sidhu promises to change the destiny of residents of Ferozepur’

Ferozepur, August 15, 2017: Cabinet Minister of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu, popularly now known as Firebrand Congress leader, addressed the residents of this border town on the occasion of Independence Day.

Sidhu promised that within few months, the destiny of this hitherto neglected border district will be changed and concerted efforts will be made to turn Ferozepur into a tourist hub. “The Punjab Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh would preserve and maintain the monuments and places of the state holding historical and cultural value in Ferozepur and develop these as tourist spots so as to make people aware at National and International level regarding the glorious historical annals of Punjab”, said Sidhu.

Stressing on the need of using Hussainiwala border for trade and transit, Sidhu said the case pertaining to re-opening of hussainiwala border for trade between India and Pakistan would be strongly forwarded by him personally before the Union Government. “If trade can be carried through wagah border then why not through Hussainiwala also”, roared Sidhu adding the revitalization of trade through Hussainiwala border will ultimately become a boon for the residents of this region besides the bonding between the two hostile nations will become strong.

Sidhu in his own unique style, recited some couplets and got huge applause of the audience. “This is indeed a matter of proud for all of us that the names of national martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, B.K Dutt is associated with Ferozepur . Ferozepur is the shield of India and we all must feel proud of it”, said Sidhu

Sidhu also divulged that the Punjab Government would make special efforts to bring to fore the historical importance of martyrs memorial hussainiwala, sites of battles of Mudki, Ferozshah, and Sobhaon fought during Anglo-Sikh war, Gurudwara Saragarhi Sahib Ferozpur Cantonment and develop these as the tourist centres bringing them on the global map. He said that state government has already decided to declare holiday every year on Saragarhi Day which falls on 12th September.

Besides, Sidhu talked about the achievements of congress government within six months. Talking about waiver of loans to providing jobs to youth, Sidhu said “Eh tan hje trailer hai, poori film tan aje baki hai dosto” (This performance is just a trailer, the movie is not over yet)
Earlier on yesterday, Sidhu had reached Hussainiwala Martyrs Memorial and paid floral tribute to the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and B.K.Dutt. he also witnessed the enthralling retreat ceremony at Hussainiwala Joint Check Post.
Those who were present on this occasion included V.K. Meena, Commissioner , Ferozepur Division, Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, Gaurav Garg, SSP Ferozepur, Ashok Behal and other senior officials from the district administration.
