Backing the ‘one nation, one election’ formula recommended by the Yogi Adityanath government, SP president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said he was ready for elections in 2019.

Speaking to reporters, he said if the UP Government wanted the ‘one nation, one election’ he was ready for the challenge of facing elections next year. He urged his party workers to be prepared for the electoral battle. However, Yadav blamed Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh-led election reforms committee of not consulting the opposition parties on this crucial issue.

On Tuesday, the Singh-led panel submitted its report to Yogi, recommending ‘one nation, one election’ practice, the first state to do so. Yogi would send the report to the Centre. The former CM charged the big parties with bringing in expensive management consultants in the electoral arena on the pretext of fighting elections professionally.
