Slain intruder was under heroin influence, says forensic report
Jammu
Murfad Shah, 26, who was killed inside former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah’s house in the Bathindi area of Jammu on August 4, was under the influence of heroin when he rammed his vehicle into the gate of the building.
Sources said Murfad’s blood samples were sent to a forensic laboratory and it was found that he was under the influence of heroin when the incident took place.
“Being under the influence of heroin must have provoked him to take the extreme step of hitting the gate of the house of the former Chief Minister which was a fortified zone and he must have not known its consequences,” said a source.
The forensic report has further strengthened the police case which had maintained that Murfad, without being provoked, had rammed his vehicle into the upper gate of the building and entered into the fortified area.
“Shah had a scuffle with CRPF men before making his way into the lobby of the house where he started to ransack stuff. During the process, he was fired upon by CRPF men that led to his on-the-spot death,” the police had said after the incident.
Farooq, who shares the house with his son Omar Abdullah, was not in the house when the incident happened. The father-son duo have got Z-plus security.
Murfad’s family has, however, rejected the police claim from the beginning and has been demanding an independent and fair probe to know the actual cause of his death. They have held several protests in Jammu and got support from locals as well.
After Murfad’s death, Farooq had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demanded a fair probe to know what actually happened in the house.
