Agriculture Minister Om Prakash Dhankar has exhorted the state farmers to “make their language soft” and “learn marketing skills” in order to enhance their income. He advised the farmers to follow the footsteps of Israeli farmers.

The minister was addressing a gathering at a felicitation ceremony of South Africa Commonwealth Championship wrestling gold medallist Somveer Kadian here today.

The minister announced to give a ‘desi’ cow, which gives more than 10 kg milk per day, to the wrestler.

Talking to mediapersons on the occasion, the minister remarked that the BJP government’s ‘chintan-shivir’ had increased the ‘chinta’ (tension) of their political opponents.

In response to a question, he maintained that there was no shortage of fertiliser in the state. “Some measures – like linking the distribution of fertiliser to Aadhaar – have been taken in order to check the misuse of subsidy,” he said, and added that 90,000 tonnes of fertiliser was available in the state and 15,000 tonnes of it was arriving everyday.
