New Delhi, December 20 : The faculty and all staff members of the Dyal Singh College today met the Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Cabinet Minister Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal to express gratitude for their efforts to stop renaming of Dyal Singh College of the Delhi.
On the occasion Mr. Inderbir Singh Bakhshi Principal of Dyal Singh College said that it was due to efforts of Mr. and Mrs Badal and tireless efforts of Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa which has resulted in stopping of the move to rename this prestigious college of the country. He said that though everyone loves the word Vande Matram but this word should not be used to hurt sentiments of others. He said that timely efforts of the SAD leadership has saved nation from erasing legacy of a great National personality.

On the occasion Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was most painful to see that some persons want to use words related with national significance for their ulterior motives. He said that it was due to sincere and tireless efforts of DSGMC particularly Mr. Manjit Singh GK and Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa and a well planned strategy adopted by the SAD that this renaming has been stopped by the Centre government.

Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal on the occasion said that the SAD and every justice loving person is thankful to HRD Minister Mr. Prakash Jevdekar who has taken timely action in the matter and saved the nation from a major embarrassment. She also lauded efforts of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management committee (DSGMC) for playing pro active role on the issue.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that he was thankful to Mr. and Mrs Badal for lending a great support to this movement which had gained national significance because efforts were being made to erase legacy of the great social reformer who with his far sighted vision had created assests for nation building and future generations of the country. He said that establishment of schools, colleges, first bank of the country and a newspaper group has contributed a lot for the nation’s development and progress.

Mr. Manjit Singh GK President DSGMC, Mr. PK Parihar President Dyal Singh College Teacher’s Association, Mr. Tarlochan Singh Ex Chairman National Minorities Commission besides others also spoke on the occasion.
