The Supreme Court will today hear CBI’s plea alleging contempt against Kolkata Police officers for obstructing the probe and for destruction of evidence in Saradha case.

The agency moved the Supreme Court, seeking directions to the West Bengal government to cooperate with the investigation in the chit fund cases, and has sought to make available Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar.

The Surpeme Court will hear the CBI’s pleas alleging contempt of court and destruction of electronic evidence related to the Saradha chit fund scam case by the Kolkata Police commissioner on Tuesday.

The CBI alleged that it moved the apex court as an extraordinary situation has arisen in which the top police officials of the West Bengal Police are sitting on a dharna along with a political party in Kolkata.

The bench comprising Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjeev Khanna said if the police commissioner is trying to destroy evidence it will come down heavily on him.

The bench said all material or evidence has to be placed before it by means of affidavit in the next 24 hours.

The BJP slammed Mamata Banerjee over the issue saying she remained mum when her MPs were arrested in the Saradha scam but now she is sitting on dharna due to action against a Police Commissioner.

The BJP also targeted the Congress and Left over the issue saying the scam came to light before the Modi govt came to power and both the parties had filed pleas seeking a probe into the matter.

The party ruling at the Centre directly targeted Mamata Banerjee as well saying the West Bengal Chief Minister is sitting on dharna to evade the CBI’s probe.

It said there’s a cosntitutional breakdown situation in West Bengal.
