In Tamil Nadu, at least 9 people killed in police firing in Tuticorin. The months-long protests for the closure of Vedanta’s Sterlite Copper unit in Tuticorin over pollution concerns turned violent on Tuesday, with agitators fighting pitched bottles with police, prompting it to open fire in which 9 people killed.
Hurling stones and setting government vehicles and public property on fire, the agitators went on the rampage in the town.
