CHALLENGES SGPC CHIEF TO STAGE DHARNA FOR GETTING GST ON LANGAR WAIVED OFF TO PROVE PANTHIC CREDENTIALS

The Cabinet Minister, Punjab and senior congress leader S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today came down heavily on Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) President Gobind Singh Longowal and said that the latter should concentrate all his energies on working for the welfare of the Sikh Panth instead of being a mere tool in the hands of Badal family.

Asking SGPC President to look into his own conduct, S. Randhawa said that the SGPC President has no right to order Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to lay off matters concerning panth as the Chief Minister is firstly a Sikh and then a political personality.

S. Randhawa also challenged the former to tell the Sikh Panth that whether he went to dera sirsa for seeking votes or not before lecturing Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh on the panthic issues. S. Randhawa said that the whole Punjab is fully aware of the credentials of Captain Amarinder Singh as a true Sikh and if anybody has acted against the panth it is Shiormani Akali Dal (SAD).

Taking on SGPC President further, S. Randhawa said that if SGPC Chief’s heart really beats for the panth then he should stage a dharna outside the residence of PM Narendra Modi, whose party BJP is in alliance with the SAD, in order to get the GST on the langar waived off. Why SGPC has never pinpricked the conscience of the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for getting langar out of GST ambit, questioned S. Randhawa.

Castigating Longowal, S. Randhwa asked him to explain that where was he himself as also SGPC and SAD at the time of sacrilege incidents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Further venting his ire, S. Randhawa said that the SGPC Chief is acting as mere tool and spokesman of the badal family and is in complete ignorance of the true happenings.

The minister also made it clear that the statement given by the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh was intended to keep the atmosphere of communal harmony intact in the State whereas Longowal is giving politically motivated statements. He said that whenever SAD is out of power it develops love for panth all of a sudden.

S. Randhawa said that the days are long since over when the SAD would befool the people by raising the cry of ‘Panth In Danger’ because the masses have seen through the reality of SAD whose mask is off.

The minister also categorically said that nobody would be allowed to disturb the hard earned peace and communal harmony of Punjab.
