Terror convict Abdul Karim Tunda was today attacked inside a courtroom here. A Sonepat court had recently awarded life imprisonment to Tunda in the 1996 Sonepat bomb blasts case.

Joginder, a resident of Jind, attacked Tunda, but security personnel present immediately overpowered him. Joginder had also attacked Tunda in Karnal jail on November 30 last year.

A Panipat court had last year sent Tunda to Karnal jail where Joginder and Amandeep of Panipat tried to strangulate him.

Tunda today appeared in the court of Dr Chander Hass, Additional District and Sessions Judge, in a hearing in the same court. Tunda (75) was brought from Ghaziabad jail, while the accused was brought from Karnal jail for the hearing.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Jashandeep Singh Randhawa marked an inquiry into the matter to DSP (City) Rajiv Kumar.

Tunda was attacked just after he got his statement recorded in the court, said Mohan Lal, SHO, Civil Lines police station.
