Chandigarh , December , 12 , 2017 :” Take the maximum advantage of on online tools , Apps and services provided by Employees Provident Fund Organisation ( EPFO ) to keep yourself update and aware of your PF and the social security schemes and provisions . Try avoid withdrawing your share of PF during service to avail the pensioner benefits meant for social security after the retirement”. This is the advisory conveyed to the lakhs of employees of the private sector covered under EPF by Mr. V. Ranganath , the acting Additional Central P.F. Commissioner of Punjab & Himachal Pradesh Zone, Chandigarh. Addressing media persons here today, Ranganath said there was total transparency in the working of EPFO now and the members can avail the online services regarding their PF for all purposes.
He highlighted the various new initiatives undertaken by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation were highlighted. He was accompanied by the EPF Commissioners Vishwajit Sagar and Rakesh Kumar .
Mr Ranganath emphasised that it was the need of the hour to bring out with absolute clarity that the frequent withdrawals from Provident Fund by the members is detrimental not only to the member but also would be depriving the member’s families of the various associated covers such as Family Pension etc. He spoke about the theme and philosophy behind the World’s premier Social Security Organisation which is to ensure the easy availability of Social Security benefits to the eligible category of workers. The importance for retention of the long time membership and continued contribution to the Provident Fund and the Pension Fund by the members were highlighted.
The EPFO officers also explained the slew of the new measures that have been taken by the Organisation to aid and assist the members as well as employers in achieving these goals and aspirations. A detailed presentation was made on the IT initiatives taken by the Organisation in an attempt to bring in transparency and introduce measures of ease of doing business by way of a highly interactive portal of the Organisation and also other third party integrations that have been carried out, such as the newly introduced mobile based “UMANG” application and other collaboration measures such as those with Customer Service Centers, Multiple Banks, capturing of digital Life Certificate via Jeevan Parmaan etc. He also elaborated the provision of the housing loan scheme available for the members of EPFO.
