Vaibhav’s tryst with Telugu
Actor Vaibhav Tatwawaadi has always been linguistically inclined. The Bajirao Mastani (2015) actor has been learning Telugu since his school days and has always been fascinated by the language. “I used to learn it in school and continued it post 10th grade too. Then, I lost touch with it. But while on the sets on Manikarnika, I kind of rekindled my love for the language. Most of the people on the sets spoke Telugu, so I started a conversation with my director (Krish Jagarlamudi) in the same language. He was pleasantly surprised and we continue to converse in Telugu now. He has been teaching me and correcting me when I go wrong,” says Vaibhav, who plays the character of Puran Singh in the film.
The Bhetali Tu Punha actor adds that his family has roots and connection with Telangana and that would explain his fascination with the language. “When you learn a language [even if you forget] the traces remain. And now, I am brushing up my Telugu-speaking skills. This has helped me share a great camaraderie with Krish,” says Vaibhav, who is also awaiting the release of Marathi film What’s Up Lagna in 2018.
The film pairs him with co-star Prarthana Behere, who have had audiences love their on-screen chemistry and rapport. “We have seen a slack period when it comes to films in the past few months. I am hoping audiences come out in huge numbers to see this film, and appreciate our chemistry like they always have.”
Taking about the next year, Vaibhav is looking at a low-key house party at his newly bought farmhouse with friends. “I am looking forward to a healthy and prosperous year, and I am happy that great work is coming my way.”
