VIGILANCE NABS ASI, PATWARI RED HANDED

Chandigarh, September 14: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an ASI and revenue Patwari red handed accepting bribes in two different trap cases.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said ASI Kabal Singh Incharge of Police Post Nadala in Kapurthala district was caught by the vigilance team while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from complainant Gurdev Singh of village Fattu Chak in Kapurthala district for helping him not to implicate in road accident case.

Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the ASI was demanding bribe of Rs. 20,000 in this case but after a settlement the accused has agreed to get Rs. 10,000. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested with tainted money in the presence of two official witnesses.

Similarly Sukhbir Singh revenue Patwari, posted at Mastugarh additional charge Bhura Karimpura, district Tarn Taran was also nabbed by a vigilance team accepting a bribe of Rs. 16,000 from Daler Singh, a complainant of village Bhura Karimpura, in Tarn Taran district.

The spokesperson said the complainant has informed the VB that the Patwari was demanding bribe of Rs. 40,000 for mutation of his land. After verifying his complaint a trap was laid by the VB and the accused was arrested with tainted money in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that cases under Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against both the accused at VB police stations Amritsar and Jalandhar respectively and further investigations were under progress.
