Vohra served state with dignity, says Rajnath
New Delhi
Disapproving the remarks made by BJP state unit chief Ravinder Raina against NN Vohra, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the former Governor served the state with distinction and maintained the dignity of the constitutional post.
In a statement issued here, the Home Minister said: “The Governor’s post is constitutional and has its own dignity. Moreover, the person holding the high office is expected to perform the job impartially, without any fear and favour.”
“NN Vohra was an outstanding officer. As a Governor, he performed with distinction and maintained the constitutional dignity,” Rajnath said, adding that the people of J&K appreciated the role played by Vohra for 10 years.
Rajnath’s statement came after Raina was purportedly heard saying in a video that the party did not want to continue with Vohra and “our man” had now been appointed as the Governor. The BJP leader has also been alleged to have said that Vohra used to boast of his own achievements.
