World’s biggest footwear park to be set up at Sonepat: CM

The world’s biggest footwear park would be developed at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district. Spread over 900 acres, the park would have all modern facilities required for the growth of footwear industries and developing labourers’ skill.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced this after inaugurating a skill development and quality control centre at the Footwear Park in Bahadurgarh town of the district on Saturday. The centre, established at a cost of Rs 25 crore, would train people in footwear manufacturing so that they could easily get employment. Industries Minister Vipul Goel was also present on the occasion.
“As many as 620 plots will be allotted in the proposed footwear park at Kharkhoda, while five acres will be made available for establishing a skill development centre to raise employment avenues for local residents,” said Khattar.

The CM also announced to develop Transport Nagar on 32 acres, a waste disposal centre on one acre, allotment of new commercial/industrial plots on 60 acres, 33 KV power station with two new transformers and a fire station in Sector-17 here on the demands of local industrialists. He also promised to make available a super-sucker machine under the PPP mode for desilting sewer lines. Goel said the Kharkhoda footwear park would not only prove a boon but also usher in a new era of development in the NCR. Applications would be invited for the allotment of plots in the park within a month so that the project could be executed at the earliest, he added.
