Additional Chief Secretary inspects key offices of district administration
Says move aimed at ensuring supportive supervision to facilitate people

In order to ensure supportive supervision to functioning of the various departments in the district, the Additional Chief Secretary cum Financial Commissioner Revenue Mrs Vinni Mahajan today visited various offices of the state government.
During her visit to the office of Divisional Commissioner Jalandhar, Mrs Mahajan underscored the need for preserving the historic British era building of this office. She said that this heritage building needs to be renovated at the earliest by pumping in more resources. Mrs Mahajan also laid thrust on proper upkeep of the records in the office.
During her visit in the office of Jalandhar Development Authority Mrs Mahajan asked the officers to ensure optimum utilisation of the government lands in the district. She asked the officers to keep a regular tab over mushrooming up of illegal colonies and constructions in violation of rules. Likewise, she also underlined the need of maintaining the record of PUDA and JDA systematically. Mrs Mahajan was informed that JDA has cracked down heavily on the illegal colonies and violations by the people.
During inspection in office of Director Land Records, the Additional Chief Secretary underscored the need for regular refresher courses for Revenue officers. She also asked the officers to ensure mandatory training for Revenue officers to expertise their skill. Mrs Mahajan also asked the officers to ensure that master trainers were groomed for operating Electronic Total Station machines for demarcation of land.
The Additional Chief Secretary also reviewed the working of ETS machines at the office. While addressing the fresh batch of Patwaris undergoing training at the Patwarkhana, she asked the officials to perform their duty diligently. Mrs Mahajan apprised the officers to undertake induction Training meticulously.
During her visit to District Administrative Complex, the Additional Chief Secretary asked the Revenue officers to focus more on Revenue courts for facilitating the people. She said as per the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh all the Revenue Officers must dispose off all the one year old cases by the end of current fiscal. Mrs Mahajan said that any sort of laxity in this work was totally unwarranted and undesirable.
The Additional Chief Secretary also asked all the officers to maximise field visits for better performance of their duties. She said that this would help in better functioning of the offices along with better acquaintance with the ground realities. Mrs Mahajan also asked the officers to hold inspections for checking their subordinate staff.
The Additional Chief Secretary further said that the purpose of her visit was not of fault finding but to overcome all the shortcomings in the functioning of the departments. She said that regular pre announced visits were primarily aimed at redressing the problems faced by the departments. Mrs Mahajan also said that feedback from the officers /officials was welcomed as the ideas from field were always innovative.
