Three-day Gita Jayanti Mahotsav begins

The three-day Gita Jayanti Mahotsav began with lots of fanfare at Sector 12 here today. Hafed Chairman and Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan inaugurated the programme being organised by the district administration.
Artistes from Indonesia presented a drama based on Mahabharata, leaving the audience spellbound. Residents also visited the Mahotsav to see stalls set up by various government departments and private sectors. Several artistes had displayed their works in an exhibition.
Kalyan highlighted the importance of Bhagvad Gita and said it is the soul of their lives. “The state government has been following the teachings of Bhagvad Gita and spreading these to the masses across the world. We are spreading peace, love, brotherhood and social harmony, which is the message of Bhagvad Gita,” he added.
Kaithal: The three-day district-level Gita Jyanti Mahotsav began in the open auditorium, opposite Bhai Uday Singh Fort, here today. Guhla MLA Kulwant Bajigar and Deputy Commissioner Sunita Verma lighted the lamp before holy scripture Bhagvad Gita and participated in the prayers.
Bajigar, while talking to mediapersons, said, “The present day youth have forgotten the message of Bhagvad Gita and Gita Jyanti Mahotsav is being organised to create awareness about it among them”. Guests visited different stalls relating to various aspects of life, culture and development in various fields.
Bajigar said Bhagvad Gita is not connected with any particular religion and is a source of inspiration for all religions. He also witnessed a painting competition organised by the Department of Education.
