SGPC to probe controversial appointments, promotions in its institutions

Chandigarh: The controversial appointments made in the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) in past would be probed, announced its newly elected president Gobind Singh Longowal here.
The decision was taken in the meeting of the SGPC interim committee held at Gurudwara Sri Deghsar Sahib, Katana Sahib near Ludhiana on Tuesday.
Longowal informed after the meeting that a sub-committee has been constituted to look into the appointments and promotions made in the SGPC and other institutions under its control in past.

It was also decided in the meeting that instead of suspension, any employee would be dismissed from job if found guilty of violating maryada (religious code of conduct), use of intoxicants and moral turpitude. No such would be re-employed, said Longowal.
It was also decided to introduce bio-metric system for the SGPC employees to ensure discipline.
Another important decision related to constitute central and state level committees to organize celebrations of 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev at international level.
The committee also decided to open a coaching academy for the Sikh youths to prepare for central civil services examination.
