PM Modi meets CEOs at India-Oman Business Meet

Come invest in India’s growth story – that is the message that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken with him to Oman, where he addressed business leaders

at the ‘India-Oman Business Meet’, organised by Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Oman, in association with Embassy of India, Muscat.

This forum aims at uplifting Omani and Indian entrepreneurs to conduct successful businesses with the other. PM Modi also met with Omani CEOs and share

possibilities of greater investment in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs of Oman.

On the people to people and cultural ties front, PM Modi will visit the Sultan Qaboos Mosque. He visited a Shiva Temple in Muscat. This ancient temple was

constructed by the Merchant community from Gujarat settled in Oman centuries ago. Originally constructed nearly 109 years ago, it was extensively renovated in

1999. The temple is all decked up for Mahashivratri.

Oman is a close and important geo-strategic neighbour. Defence cooperation between India and Oman is one of a kind in the entire Gulf region. Army, navy and

air force exercises are conducted between the two countries on a regular basis. It was due to the initiative taken by Oman that resulted in the return of Indian

priest Father Tom who was kidnapped by the ISIS in Yemen last year.

Meanwhile, taking the strategic partnership with Oman to a new high, eight MoUs were inked between India and Oman on Sunday.

MoUs were inked in the field of Maritime Transport and Ports, Tourism Cooperation, health and for cooperation in peaceful use of outer space, Mutual Visa

Exemptions and academics.

The Indian expat community has played an important role in the building of Oman and the ties India Oman hare will see new highs with PM Modi’s visit.
