Mehbooba brings Drabu back into PDP core group
Srinagar
Months after he was unceremoniously sacked as a finance minister, prominent economist-turned-politician Haseeb Drabu was made a member of the PDP’s political affairs committee, the highest decision-making body of the party.
Headed by Mehbooba Mufti, the PAC was reconstituted on August 26. A PDP spokesman said the party president had nominated Haseeb Drabu and Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari as members of the PAC.
On March 9 last year, Drabu while addressing a select gathering of ambassadors and industrialists in New Delhi had said “Kashmir is not a political issue” which led to his sacking. Drabu was the architect of the PDP-BJP alliance which broke in June this year.
The PDP after the break-up has been facing a revolt as five MLAs and two MLCs have spoken out against the party leadership.
The PDP spokesman said Mehbooba also nominated Mushtaq Ahmad Shah as Tral zone head. “Mehbooba has assigned party work to three general secretaries in Jammu province.
