Nepal 27 killed in storm; Rescue and relief work underway

In Nepal, rescue and relief work in storm affected Bara and Parsa districts is underway. At least 27 persons including one Indian national were killed and over 600 injured in a massive storm in various parts of Bara and Parsa district on Sunday evening.

Consul General of India in Birgunj, B.C.Pradhan told our correspondent that deceased Indian has been identified as Jeetlal Sahani. Consulate General officials are in the process of contacting his family members to provide all necessary assistance.

Around 350 people were discharged after first aid while remaining have been admitted at various hospitals. The condition of several injured is reported to be critical. Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli is visiting affected areas to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, Province 2 government has announced Rs.3 Lakh each to kin of those who lost their lives due to devastating storm. An emergency meeting of the Province 2 government held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut also decided to bear all expenses for the treatment of the injured.
