ADC ASKS BANKS TO LAY SPECIAL THRUST ON GOVERNMENT SPONSORED SCHEMES LOAN FOR THE UPLIFTMENT OF WEAKER SECTIONS OF SOCIETY

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bhupinder Pal Singh has asked the banking institutions to lay special thrust on government sponsored schemes loan as a part of their social responsibility for the upliftment of the weaker and underprivileged sections of society.

Chairing the quarterly meeting of District Consultative Committee and District Level Review Committee of the banks, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the banks could extend a helping hand to the needy people through these schemes and loans. He said that the basic aim of these government sponsored schemes loans was to give a chance to the needy strata of the society to live a life of dignity and pride. Mr. Bhupinder Pal Singh said that so there was huge responsibility on the banks to ensure that people get the benefits of these schemes.

Appreciating the efforts put in by banks for fulfilling the set targets, the Additional Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that Banks would further make all out efforts to achieve the targets under the plan. As per directions of the government, he advised all banks to achieve 100 % targets of Aadhaar and Mobile numbers linking in all Saving bank accounts by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, during the meeting the Additional Deputy Commissioner was apprised that under Priority Sector performance of Annual Credit Plan was 79.15 %. However, overall performance was 118 % against the target of 3187 crores performance is 3761 crores. Similarly, he was informed that under Agriculture Sector the performance was 81.30 %, and for Non Farm Sector (NFS) performance was 87.70 %.

Earlier AGM, Uco Bank Mr. Ranjeet Singh, Mr. PC Mehra and Director RUDSET Mr. Jagdish Lal welcomed the Additional Deputy Commissioner and thanked him for sparing his valuable time for the meeting.

On the occasion, AGM , RBI (Reserve Bank of India) Chandigarh Mrs. Narender Kaur and DDM , NABARD, Jalandhar Mr. Love Kishan Mehra were also present.
