India vs Australia, 5th ODI: AUS bat, IND make three changes
Australia have won the toss and elected to bat first in their fifth and final ODI against India at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, in Nagpur on Sunday.
Although the series has already been wrapped up, there was no dearth of excitement among the local crowd who had started to hit the stadium as early as 11 o’clock in the morning. This is the first ODI being held in Nagpur in nearly four years with the last, in 2013, also being contested between the same teams. (India vs Australia 5th ODI Live Scorecard)
India currently lead the five-match series 3-1 with the blip coming in their last game in Bengaluru where they fell short by 21 runs. It had halted India’s unbeaten run of nine games and the chance to extend that record to 10 consecutive matches. Thus, although the outcome of the game won’t change the fate of the series, a victory for India will push them to the top of the ICC rankings in the 50-over format.
India made three changes to bring back Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav in place of Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Shami had leaked 62 runs in the last match in his 10 overs while Umesh had given away 71 while picking up four wickets. Chahal, however, failed to make it to the side because of illness.
Australia, too, has made one change to their side with Kane Richardson making way for James Faulker. Richardson, too, is ill.
