Warm welcome for Indian players in Imphal

Seven Manipur players, who participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup returned here today to a rousing welcome.

A large number of football fans and veteran footballers cheered when the players came out of the airport. The Indian team members were

garlanded and the people clapped for their spirited performances.

Captain Amarjit Kiyam expressed his gratitude to the supporters and said such a huge support would encourage the young players to do better

in future. He urged for the development of a world-class stadium in the state. Midfielder Jeakson Thounaojam, who scored the first ever goal by

an Indian in a FIFA World Cup during the second match against Columbia, also drew huge crowd. Goalkeeper Dheeraj Moirangthem, who

received praise from the US coach, stayed back in New Delhi.
