The Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), will organize “Dr M.S. Randhawa Annual Flower Show” on February 28 and March 1 near the Examination Hall, College of Agriculture, PAU. The show will be held in collaboration with the Estate Organization and the Department of Family Resource Management, PAU. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will inaugurate the Flower Show on February 28 at 12.30 pm, whereas, the prize distribution function will be held onMarch 1 at 2.30 pm.

Dr H.S. Grewal, Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, said the flower show is a regular event of the University. It seeks to promote commercial floriculture and create awareness among the people about the role of plants in improving the environment, he stated. There will be eight different classes of fresh/dry flower arrangements, seasonal flowers, foliage plants, cacti, succulents, ferns and bonsai in the competition, he informed. The competition will be open to individuals, private institutions, amateurs, government and semi-government institutions and nurseries, he added. The competition is being organized for the last 22 years and all the leading educational institutions, schools and colleges, municipal corporation, real estate organizations, Verka Milk Plant, nurseries etc. participate regularly in the flower show, he said. Dr Grewal called upon the flower lovers to participate in the competition and grace the occasion to make the event all the more colorful.
