DC INAUGURATES 62ND CRUSHING SEASON OF THE BHOGPUR SUGAR MILL

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that concerted efforts would be made to get the project of modernization of Bhogpur Sugar Mill cleared from the state government at the earliest.

Addressing the gathering before inaugurating the 62nd crushing season of sugarcane here today, the Deputy Commissioner said that he would personally take up the issue of modernization of this 62 years old cooperative sugar mill with the higher officials. He said that no stone would be left unturned for accomplishing this project, which was of immense importance for the farmers. Mr. Sharma said that Rs 100 crore project was already under the active consideration of the state government to give fillip to crop diversification in the state.

The Deputy Commissioner said that though the food growers were facing acute crisis across the country but in states of Punjab and Gujarat farmers have been immensely benefitted from the strong cooperation movement. Mr. Sharma said that the success of this six decade old cooperative sugar mill was result of hard work and dedication of the farmers, who have been associated with this mill since long. He said that it was a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him to be here amongst the farmers for inauguration of the crushing season.

Recalling the glorious contribution of this sugar mill, the Deputy Commissioner said that due to hard work of management, the Mill has several records to its credit. He expressed hope that mill would uphold its legacy by sheer hard work and commitment. Mr. Sharma congratulated the farmers on inauguration of the crushing season.
