Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that following the advisory issued by Shri Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, the Party has cancelled its annual conference to be held on 26th December at Shri Fatehgarh Sahib.

In a statement released from the Party Headquaters, the SAD president said that the party always follows the directives of Shri Akal Takhat Sahib in letter and spirit. He said that even though the tradition of holding annual conference by the SAD at Shri Fatehgarh Sahib has been going on since long, now keeping the largest interest of the Sikh Community at first, it will not hold its conference on 26th December. Expressing contentment with the feelings of Jathedar of Shri Akal Takhat, S. Badal said that the political parties have been ruining the importance of this occasion by indulging in mud-slinging and making it a political battlefield since over the years. It deeply hurts the feelings of Sikh devotees who come pay their respects to the great sacrifices made by the Chote Sahibzadas.

Giving further information, Party Spokesman and Senior Vice president, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the decision of cancelling the party conference to be held on 26thDecember has been conveyed to the district Unit of the SAD.
