LITERARY EVENING AT PAU MARKS SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH’S BIRTHDAY

More than 150 students of the Young Writers’ Association PAU, Ludhiana marked the birthday of Martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the form of a literary evening cum interactive session with participants displaying talents of poetry, songs, quiz, documentary movie and one street play.

Dr Devinder Kaur Kocher (Dilroop), President of the association welcomed the esteemed guests and introduced the chief guest to the audience. Dr Jagmohan Singh, nephew of the great freedom fighter, Shaheed Bhagat Singh interacted with the participants and shared lesser known facts from the martyr’s life and struggle. He also highlighted issues from the society, agriculture and history. “We have a lot to learn from Shaheed Bhagat Singh, because he always talked about equality, importance of education, languages and complete freedom.” said Dr Singh.

Dr Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU who presided over the function exhorted the students to take inspiration from Shaheed Bhagat Singh and start reading at least one book along with their course curriculum. She also appreciated the students’ efforts towards making the event successful.

Dr Gulzar Pandher, Dr Gurcharan Kaur Kochar, Dr Darshan Badi, Dr Vishal Bector, Mrs Prabhjeet Kaur Gill, Poet Manjit Mehram and Neelu Bagga were among the guests. Students Gurjeet Sharma, Kanwarpreet Dhaliwal, Sukhmanjot Kaur, Kiranpreet Kaur, Gaganpreet Singh, Sukhpal Kaur, Palwinder Singh, Gurneet Kaur, Jaspreet Singh and Sarabjeet Singh presented their poems and songs; while Sandeep Kaur and Ankita Batra conducted the stage and quiz respectively. Students also presented a street play to tackle the problem of suicides and take the inspiration from the martyr’s life.
