Won’t allow political conferences at Shaheedi Jor Mel, warns Bir Devinder
Fatehgarh Sahib : Bir Devinder Singh former Deputy Speaker in a memorandum submitted to Deputy Commissioner has demanded the complete ban on the political conferences being organised by different political parties on the eve of Saheedi Jor Mela.
He has warned that he along with Sangat won’t allow political conferences by any political party at any cost.
Addressing the media persons here today, he said that the onus is on so called Sikh followers specially SAD(B) president Sukhbir Badal and SAD(A) president Simranjit Singh Mann, whether they are with Sahibjadas of Guru, who made sacrifices or prefer political conferences.
He said that people ever since the martyrdom of younger Sahibjadas and Mata Ji at Sirhind defending the soverignity of faith millions of devotees from all over the world throng the holy place to re-live the horrors of brutality unleashed by the Mughal Governor of Sirhind Wazid Khan.
He said that when people are in the state of shock and reverently pay their tribute to martyrs, that certainly is not the occasion for political conferences and mudslinging. He said that it is an era of Sikh spiritual renaissance and such demonstration of political power is just exhibition of arrogance. So political parties should cancel it.
He said Sikhs are passing through decisive face and they should be conscious of their rich heritage.
He also criticised Akal Takht Jathedar for issuing insufficient and unclear statement on political conferences issue. He said Akal Takhat Jathedar should issue religious edict to ban political conferences, before it is too late and Sangat take law in its own hands. He welcomed the decision of AAP to cancel the political conferences and urged other parties to follow.
